Edit default content
In the Shopify admin, you can change the default text found in your theme. Use the Default theme content editor to edit or remove text to match the tone and needs of your store.

Common changes to default theme content
Below you'll find the most common changes to default theme content. Use the search and filter bar in the default theme content editor to find and replace the theme text.
Do not change text inside curly brackets {{ }} or HTML link tags (<a href=""> and </a> ). Changing them will break the functionality of the theme.
You can change the link text (e.g. "Shipping") between the opening and closing link tags.
Add-to-cart button
The add-to-cart button has the default text "Add to cart". Search this text to replace it with your own. Click Save.
Powered by Shopify
The "Powered by Shopify" appears in the Footer on every page. To remove this text, use your space bar to replace "Powered by Shopify" with a single space. Click Save.
Newsletter
The Newsletter form includes default text for the submit button ("Subscribe"), email placeholder ("Email address"), and confirmation message ("Thanks for subscribing!")
Search for "Newsletter" to find and replace the text in these fields. Click Save.
Shipping and Taxes
According to your store settings, default text for Shipping and Taxes appears on the Cart page. Search for "Shipping" or "Taxes" to find the default text or click on the Products tab.
Change default theme content
In your Theme editor:
- Click Actions (
...) > Edit default theme content.
You can also access the theme content editor from your Shopify admin. Go to Online store > Themes, and Click Actions ... next to the theme you want to edit.
- Enter the default text into the search bar or click the tab that includes the group of text you want to change.
The Default theme content editor groups theme text by category that you can view using the tab navigation. Click on the tabs or use the search bar to find the theme content you want to change.
- Edit the text you want to change in the available fields.
