404 page
Each page has its own default sections and settings. The 404 page displays when a customer tries to visit a link to your site that doesn't exist, such as a product page for a product that you deleted from your store. In the Elevated theme, you have the ability to personalize the background and color scheme of the 404 banner.

Set up a 404 page
Steps to open up the 404 template:
- In your Shopify admin dashboard, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Look for Elevated and click on the Customize button.
- Click on the arrow down next to Home page↓and select 404 page.
- Click on 404 page which is a section specific to the error page. You will now see customization options for this section that we will cover later in this article.

Customize the 404 page
Once you have opened the template following the steps above, you can now configure your section.
A 404 page customization controls:
- Image - This controls the background image of the 404 page. Click Select Image or Explore Free Images if you want to choose an image from Shopify's library. You can always click Change > Remove Image to go back to the version without a background image. You can also connect a dynamic source to that.
- Mobile image (optional) - An option to upload a different image for mobile screens.
- Desktop Image height - Changes the image height. Available options are Small, Medium, Large, Original, or Hero mode (recommended).
- Color scheme - Controls the color scheme of the banner with 404 text. Click Change to pick a different color scheme. Remember that you can Edit the existing scheme or add a new one in Theme settings.
